Gannett Co., Inc, parent company of 100+ news outlets including USA TODAY, is offering a public relations internship for Fall 2013 in the corporate communications office. The internship will allow students to gain exposure to the PR and marketing industry and will provide a real-world experience that can supplement classroom studies.
Throughout the course of the internship, the intern will work closely with our PR team and have the ability to draft press releases and pitches, catalogue media clippings, write company newsletters and gain valuable insight into the rapid pace of a Fortune 500 company. The intern will also collaborate on Gannett’s social media presence, including finding and creating intriguing content and facilitating interaction on major social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram).
An ideal corporate communications intern candidate for Gannett should be a passionate, creative and fast-learning undergraduate or graduate student who wishes to further his/her interests in the communication and public relation fields.
The position is located in our headquarter office in McLean, VA, and is part-time or full-time. Ideally, we would like you to work at least 25 hours per week and be able to work in the office three full days. In order to be considered for this unpaid internship, you must be able to receive school credit and provide proof of credit.
Requirements:
• Graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Communications/PR
• Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to multi-task proficiently
• Good organizational skills
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications
• Must receive school credit
• Previous internship experience in PR is a plus
