This is an unpaid internship that will be offered from July 2014 through May 2015 with the Naval Academy Athletic Association in Annapolis, MD. Candidates are expected to be enrolled in a complimentary communications/video production program at an institute of higher learning. Applicants seeking this position are preferred to be receiving credit for this internship.

Description of Organization:

The Naval Academy Athletic Association, founded in 1891 by Robert Means Thompson, is a 501C3 non-profit organization whose objective is to “promote, influence, and assist in financing the athletic contests of the midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy” in accordance with the policy of the Superintendent of the Academy. The Video and Technology department produces a variety of programs from live broadcasted events to featurettes for individual athletic programs and the academy as a whole. Produced items are posted at our Livestream channel http://new.livestream.com/navy/channel1, as well as YouTube.com and Vimeo.com.

Intern responsibilities:

Work with our team of video producers to research, write, shoot and edit video. Work with our broadcast staff to plan, setup, and shoot/produce live, streamed events. Collaborate with staff and create video graphics, capture melt footage, plan shoot and storyboards for future programs. Hours are flexible and depend on availability of candidate as well as ongoing activities and events.

Intern qualifications:

Should have previous experience shooting with professional video cameras and using professional audio equipment
Should be proficient in video editing techniques and software
Should be familiar with all Microsoft Office computer programs, e-mail and Internet social media technology
Should be a self-starter, ready to work and meet deadlines once given direction
Some travel may be requested (cost will be borne by the athletic association or team requiring travel)

Internship training includes:

Various video editing systems
Live broadcast workflows and jobs
Various video shooting and editing techniques
Writing video scripts and programs
Exposure to coach’s video systems
