Position: Marketing and Communications Intern
Reports to CLIA’s Communications Coordinator
Description: Community Law In Action seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist marketing and communications efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing while working in the nonprofit sector.
Responsibilities:
Assist in maintaining CLIA’s social media presence, including daily monitoring, posting and scheduling Facebook and Twitter updates
Interview and photograph CLIA youth during programming and events
Assist in planning, writing and managing CLIA’s biweekly e-newsletters that highlight youth accomplishments.
Assist in designing flyers, graphics, event invitations and other marketing materials
Update CLIA’s website regularly
Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions, and tools for marketing and communications
Qualifications:
Required
Candidates must be working towards a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in a related field (e.g. Marketing/Communications, Graphic Design, Journalism, Advertising or Public Relations). Candidates in graduate school or with at least half of their Bachelor’s degree completed will be given preference in hiring.
Understanding of the principles of public relations and/or marketing
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience using social media for marketing
Skilled in photography and proficiency with a DSLR camera
Possess excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well independently, and within a team
Commitment to working with high school aged youth
Preferred
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator desired
Knowledge of HTML, website content management a plus
Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 4 – 6 month (or one semester) commitment
Hours: 10 – 15 hours/week
Compensation: This is an unpaid internship
