Responsibilities
Interns assist with all public relations tasks, including:
– researching media outlets and personnel through online searches
– developing and maintaining lists of media, contacts and opportunities for clients
– identifying media and promotional opportunities for clients by conducting online research
– writing media materials, including press releases, calendar listings and media advisories
– writing promotional materials, including newsletters and emails
– writing online and social media content, including blog posts, Facebook posts, Twitter, comments and e-news articles
– pursuing press mentions by contacting online media outlets
– providing ideas and suggestions in meetings, brainstorming sessions and email responses
– assisting in planning and managing client events
Experience

Qualifications
Interns should be:
– fluent in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word and Excel
– familiar with social media, especially Facebook and Twitter
– professional in demeanor and tone
– energetic and proactive
– deadline-oriented
Other Information
– Internships are unpaid. Students may arrange for academic credit for their experiences.
– Interns are asked to commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week.
