The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking to gain hands-on editorial and marketing experience, primarily in the field of higher education. This individual will assist with maintaining and updating content on the School’s website (www.pharmacy.umaryland.edu) and other marketing tasks as assigned.
The ideal candidate for this internship is a college-level junior or senior pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or English. Although this is an unpaid internship, credit may be offered by the applicant’s college or university commensurate with the number of intern hours completed.
Intern Responsibilities:
• Create, edit, and update webpages using the School’s content management systems (CMS), Terminal 4 and WordPress.
• Use email marketing software to create and send department newsletters, event announcements, and other communications for the School.
• Assist with photography and use photo editing software (i.e., PhotoShop) to prepare photos to be posted on the School’s website.
• Organize and disseminate public relations clips.
• Other related responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Basic understanding of HTML.
• Basic understanding of a CMS such as WordPress or Drupal.
• Basic knowledge of photo editing software (i.e., PhotoShop).
• Knowledge of AP Style and understanding of English grammar.
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with superior attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating in a team environment.
• Ability to commit a minimum of 12 hours per week to internship.
