Summary of Position<\/span>
The National Geographic Communications department is seeking (1-2) interns for Summer 2007. The Communications Intern(s) will assist with day-to-day media relations and will work closely with Communcations department staff to promote all aspects of National Geographic including its magazines, programs and products. School credit is required.<\/p>\n

Internship Responsibilities
<\/span>– Provide general administrative support to the communications department
– Complete media research and compile media contact lists
– Coordinate press mailings and other media outreach
– Draft press materials (pitch letters, media advisories)
– Event support<\/p>\n

Minimum Education & Experience<\/span>
Intern must be a current college student working towards a degree in communications, media\/public relations, journalism or equivalent. Previous internship experience a plus.<\/p>\n

Knowledge & Skill Requirements<\/span>
Candidate must be enthusiastic and detailed oriented with good editing and writing skills. He or she must be organized, able to complete multiple tasks in a timely fashion, and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. He or she must also work well in a team environment and be capable of working independently when required.<\/p>\n
