**ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR INSTITUTE PRIORITY DEADLINE OF FEBRUARY 1, 2007**<\/p>\n

Sponsored by The Fund for American Studies in partnership with Georgetown University,
the Institute on Political Journalism combines substantive internships, courses for academic credit, career development activities, site briefings and panels featuring professional journalists.<\/p>\n

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the Final Deadline of March 1, 2007.
Students applying by the Priority Deadline of February 1, 2007 are given preference in
admissions and scholarship decisions as well as internship placement.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Internships \u2013 Competitive placements with media organizations
\u2013 Classes \u2013 Up to 9 credits in ethics and economics for journalists from Georgetown University
\u2013 Housing \u2013 Furnished, on- campus apartments in the heart of D.C.

\u2013 Guest Lectures \u2013 With Washington’s top print and broadcast journalists

2007 Thomas L. Philips Collegiate Journalism Awards<\/p>\n

The Institute on Political Journalism is now accepting entries for the
2007 Thomas L. Philips Collegiate Journalism Awards. The awards recognize excellence
in well- sourced news stories or analytical reports in collegiate publications that
demonstrate an understanding of the basic ideas that support a free society, including
freedom of the press, freedom of speech and free- market economic principles.<\/p>\n

First, second and third place prizes are $5,000, $2,500 and $1,000 respectively.
All articles must have been published between January 1, 2006 and March 31, 2007.
All entries must be postmarked by March 31, 2007. Please visit the website
