The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking to gain hands-on writing and editing experience, primarily for organizational websites. This individual will assist with the development of content for the School\u2019s website (www.pharmacy.umaryland.edu), an ongoing transition to a new content management system (CMS), and other communication and marketing tasks as assigned. He or she will report to the Assistant Dean for Communications and Marketing.<\/p>\n
Although this is an unpaid internship, credit may be offered by the applicant\u2019s college or university commiserate with the number of intern hours completed. Interns are also guaranteed published bylines.<\/p>\n
Intern Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Write feature stories for the School of Pharmacy\u2019s public website following appropriate grammar, AP style, and brand guidelines.
\n\u2022 Attend relevant events and activities as well as interface with faculty, staff, and students in the reporting of stories for the website.
\n\u2022 Create, edit, and update web pages using CMS (currently SiteExecutive, Terminal 4, and WordPress).
\n\u2022 Create and use email marketing software to send department newsletters, event announcements, and other communications from the School.
\n\u2022 Other related responsibilities as assigned.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Strong writing and proofreading ability.
\n\u2022 Strong attention to detail.
\n\u2022 Basic understanding of science and health concepts.
\n\u2022 Able to identify and conduct research using reputable online sources.
\n\u2022 Basic understanding and experience with a CMS (i.e., WordPress).
\n\u2022 Basic understanding of HTML.
\n\u2022 Basic knowledge of photo editing software (i.e., PhotoShop).
\n\u2022 Experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
\n\u2022 Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating in a team environment.<\/p>\n
