NewsUp internships offer real-world work experience and knowledge for those who wish to plunge headfirst into the day-to-day operations of a media organization. This internship is a special program designed to enable interns to learn about growth-stage startups in the publishing world. We seek to provide an educational experience for those accepted and expect our interns to be serious, proactive, and professional. This opportunity is an unpaid internship. However, we offer course credit for students.<\/p>\n
The editorial internship emphasizes content creation from ideation to execution. Specific responsibilities include:
\nCopywriting for the web
\nCopyediting and proofreading
\nGeneral story research
\nMarket research for audience needs
\nStory generation and pitches<\/p>\n
Successful interns should:
\nPossess an active interest in the Internet and its communities
\nUnderstand current trends and topics in world news, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle
\nThink outside the box and work creatively against tight deadlines
\nMaintain a meticulous attention and dedication to detail
\nWelcome constructive criticism and learn from the feedback
\nFamiliarity with social media preferred<\/p>\n
Interns are expected to work 32 hours \/ week in our Baltimore, Maryland office. Journalism, English, and Communications majors strongly preferred.
