The University of Maryland School of Pharmacy is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking to gain hands-on editorial and marketing experience, primarily in the field of higher education. This individual will assist with maintaining and updating content on the School\u2019s website (www.pharmacy.umaryland.edu) and other marketing tasks as assigned.<\/p>\n
The ideal candidate for this internship is a college-level junior or senior pursuing a degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or English. Although this is an unpaid internship, credit may be offered by the applicant\u2019s college or university commensurate with the number of intern hours completed.<\/p>\n
Intern Responsibilities:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Create, edit, and update webpages using the School\u2019s content management systems (CMS), Terminal 4 and WordPress.
\n\u2022 Use email marketing software to create and send department newsletters, event announcements, and other communications for the School.
\n\u2022 Assist with photography and use photo editing software (i.e., PhotoShop) to prepare photos to be posted on the School\u2019s website.
\n\u2022 Organize and disseminate public relations clips.
\n\u2022 Other related responsibilities as assigned.<\/p>\n
Qualifications:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Basic understanding of HTML.
\n\u2022 Basic understanding of a CMS such as WordPress or Drupal.
\n\u2022 Basic knowledge of photo editing software (i.e., PhotoShop).
\n\u2022 Knowledge of AP Style and understanding of English grammar.
\n\u2022 Experience with Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
\n\u2022 Strong written and verbal communication skills, with superior attention to detail.
\n\u2022 Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating in a team environment.
\n\u2022 Ability to commit a minimum of 12 hours per week to internship.<\/p>\n
