Do you want to help make it happen at WYPR? Midday is the station\u2019s flagship news and current affairs program, a one-hour live daily talk show with host Tom Hall that features wide-ranging conversations about politics, business, science, education, culture and community affairs.  Midday is currently looking for Summer interns. You don\u2019t need experience in public radio, but we do require a basic grasp of news judgment, plus research and writing skills. An ideal candidate would also be interested in the topics covered in Midday\u2019s guest interviews: government, history, science, energy, environment, technology, business, and arts and culture.<\/p>\n<p>We involve interns in most aspects of the program: researching and booking interviews, editing recorded audio, writing copy for hosts, participating in editorial meetings, pitching ideas, gathering tape, and reaching out to listeners on social media. The schedule is flexible, but we are looking for a commitment of 12 to 15 hours per week.<br \/>\nWe\u2019re looking for a creative and collegial person with a strong work ethic, the ability to work well both independently and on a team, and a dedication to fair, accurate, and compelling journalism. The subject line should read \u201cSummer 2017 Internship Application.\u201d<br \/>\nPlease attach the following, each as a separate PDF or Microsoft Word document:<br \/>\n&#8211; Cover letter, no more than one page. (Please tell us if the internship would be for college credit) We encourage you to highlight any radio or social media work you\u2019ve done.<br \/>\n&#8211; Resume, including the names, titles, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of two references.<br \/>\n&#8211; Two work samples. At least one should be a writing sample &#8212; we\u2019ll accept news articles or editorial, creative writing examples, blog posts, or short research papers. We\u2019re looking for clear and compelling writing and well-researched ideas. The other can also be writing, but we also encourage you to send us any audio, video, or multimedia work you\u2019ve done.
