The intern will be asked to work approximately 12 hours per week, with exact schedule and duration of the internship to be mutually decided. This internship is unpaid but can qualify for college credit if arranged with the University by the student. Candidates must be enthusiastic learners with strong writing skills and lots of creativity.<\/p>\n<p>Nevins &amp; Associates offers two internships per semester. Spring (January-April), Summer (May-August), and Fall (September-December). For consideration, please send resume, cover letter, and writing samples to Mary Miles (mmiles@nevinspr.com). Applicants who do not submit all required documents will not be considered.<\/p>\n<p>Responsibilities<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with developing, writing, and distributing approved press releases;<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with media relations, including pitching, researching, and scheduling interviews, as needed;<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with organization of executive photos, photo opportunities, and videos;<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with building and maintaining relationships with both local and national media;<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with finding and completing appropriate contest entries;<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with the planning and execution of special events, as needed;<br \/>\n\u2022 Update press list and databases;<br \/>\n\u2022 Actively participate in brainstorm sessions and staff meetings;<br \/>\n\u2022 Assist with organizing media clips and preparing for client meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Requirements<br \/>\n\u2022 Internship application is open to currently enrolled college students with strong preference given to juniors and seniors. Previous internship experience preferred but not required;<br \/>\n\u2022 Student should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, or Journalism (or equivalent);<br \/>\n\u2022 Relevant coursework in the field of public relations;<br \/>\n\u2022 Solid understanding of social media;<br \/>\n\u2022 Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications;<br \/>\n\u2022 Familiar with AP Style;<br \/>\n\u2022 Strong communication skills both verbal and written;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to work with others as well as independently on projects;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously;<br \/>\n\u2022 Ability to generate, share, and follow through on creative ideas;<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellent phone presence;<br \/>\n\u2022 Intern should be enthusiastic, articulate, and professional.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nevins &amp; Associates, a boutique public relations firm located in Towson, MD, is looking for motivated college students for internships.
