NewsUp internships offer real-world work experience and knowledge for those who wish to plunge headfirst into the day-to-day operations of a media organization. This internship is a special program designed to enable interns to learn about growth-stage startups in the publishing world. We seek to provide an educational experience for those accepted and expect our interns to be serious, proactive, and professional. This opportunity is an unpaid internship. However, we offer course credit for students.
The editorial internship emphasizes content creation from ideation to execution. Specific responsibilities include:
Copywriting for the web
Copyediting and proofreading
General story research
Market research for audience needs
Story generation and pitches
Successful interns should:
Possess an active interest in the Internet and its communities
Understand current trends and topics in world news, sports, entertainment, and lifestyle
Think outside the box and work creatively against tight deadlines
Maintain a meticulous attention and dedication to detail
Welcome constructive criticism and learn from the feedback
Familiarity with social media preferred
