Job Description

The Venezuelan American Leadership Council is seeking two part-time interns for the fall semester starting September 2016 and ending December 2016. The interns will assist with a variety of research, outreach, and communication activities, along with occasional administrative support. These internships will provide you with the unique experience to work in a small, but fast-paced, nonprofit already making waves in Washington D.C. Each intern will be encouraged to take a leadership role in their work.

Communications Intern

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily news and media out of Venezuela and draft daily summary briefs.
  • Produce weekly content for the organization, including op-eds and blog posts.
  • Assist with translating documents from English to Spanish and vice versa.
  • Assist with administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment and interest in human rights, democracy, and Venezuelan issues;
  • Must be available to work 15-20 hours a week (this is flexible);
  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish required;

Details :

  • Location: Washington, DC
  • Compensation: This is an unpaid internship, however students may receive course credit for their internship.
  • Duration: The fall season begins early September and ends early December

 

Campus Outreach/Involvement Intern

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create collaboration opportunities with university groups
  • Increase our organization’s content circulation on college campuses
  • Organize/co-host events on college campuses to raise awareness about Venezuelan issues

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated commitment and interest in human rights, democracy, and Venezuelan issues;
  • Must be available to work 15-20 hours a week (this is flexible);
  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish required;
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university.
